Preliminary opinion online
Change in our service
For many years we gave a free preliminary opinion on paintings sent to us in photographs. The number of requests has grown so much that we can no longer do this free of charge.
From now on the preliminary opinion is an online, paid service:
- HUF 5,000 per painting (gross, VAT included)
- online order and card payment (Barion); the invoice is sent by e-mail
- after payment you upload the photographs on our website
- written opinion within 5 working days
- if you then order a full examination of the same painting within 3 months, the fee is deducted from its price
We can no longer give an opinion based on photographs sent by e-mail.
The address festmenyvizsgalat@gmail.com remains in use for full examinations and all other enquiries.
What does the preliminary opinion include?
- a preliminary assessment of the photographs,
- suspicious or noteworthy details,
- questions concerning the signature,
- an analysis of the back (canvas, stretcher, labels, inscriptions),
- whether the painting is already in our archive,
- whether we recommend a material examination and its estimated cost.
The preliminary opinion is based on photographs and is for information only. It is not a certificate of authenticity, an expert witness report or a valuation.
How to order
The order form is in Hungarian. Please fill in: Név (name), E-mail-cím, Telefonszám (phone), Ország (country), Irányítószám (postcode), Település (city), Utca, házszám (street address), the number of paintings, and tick the two declarations (acceptance of the terms and the request to start the service immediately). The opinion can be written in English on request – please mention it in the description of the painting when uploading the photographs.
The Painting Examination Laboratory treats the data of its users confidentially and does not make it available to third parties.
